Getting started

Setup checklist

Vanix has three parts, and these docs cover each one.

  • Vanix admin is where you create subscription plans, set what customers can change, set up billing recovery, and manage subscriptions. Open it from Apps in your Shopify admin. It opens in its own tab.
  • Shopify admin is where a few things are switched on: the subscribe option on your product pages, the Subscriptions page in customer accounts, and payments.
  • The customer portal is the Subscriptions page in your customers' accounts on your store, where they manage their own subscriptions.

Setup checklist

  1. Check your store can sell subscriptions

You need a payment provider that supports subscriptions, such as Shopify Payments, and your store needs to use Shopify's customer accounts rather than legacy customer accounts. How to check

  2. Open Vanix

Once Vanix is installed, go to Apps in your Shopify admin and choose Vanix.

  3. Create a subscription plan on each product

In Vanix, go to Products, open a product, and choose Create plan. Pick the delivery frequencies and the discount for each. Products & plans

  4. Add the subscribe option to your product pages

Add the Subscription Selector block to your product template in the theme editor. Adding the block

  5. Add the Subscriptions page to customer accounts

Add a link to the Subscriptions page in your customer account menu, so customers can find it. Adding the page

  6. Choose what customers can change

In Vanix, go to Rules and turn on the ones you want: swaps, adding products, pausing, delivery address, delivery frequency and discount codes. Then check the cancellation rule, which is on from the start. Customer rules · Cancellation

  7. Set up billing recovery

In Vanix, go to Billing Recovery and turn on retries for declined cards and out-of-stock items. Both are off until you turn them on. Billing recovery

  8. Place a test order

Buy a product with the subscribe option selected. The subscription appears under Subscriptions in Vanix, and on the Subscriptions page in that customer's account.
