Vanix admin
Subscriptions & customers
Everything you can do to a subscription on a customer's behalf. None of the customer rules apply here: you can make any change, at any time.
The subscriptions list
Go to Subscriptions to see every subscription, with its status in Shopify: Active, Paused, Failed, Cancelled or Expired. Two more labels come from Vanix's billing:
- Recovering: a renewal failed and Vanix is retrying it.
- Billing stopped: the retries ran out, and nothing more will be charged until it's sorted out.
Change items
On a subscription's page, under Items:
- Add item puts any product variant on the subscription, at the price you set.
- Replace this item swaps an item for any other variant.
- Remove this item takes it off. The last item can't be removed. Cancel the subscription instead.
- Change quantity sets how many of an item they get.
Totals, tax and shipping update after each change. If a change moves the order into a different shipping rate, the rate is updated too.
Dates and frequency
- Reschedule sets the date the subscription is next charged. You can pick any date, including today, in which case it's charged on the next scheduled run.
- Frequency changes how often it's delivered.
Delivery address
You can change the delivery address at any time, whatever the address rule says. The delivery rate is re-quoted for the new address.
Discount codes
Add or remove discount codes on a subscription from its page. A code covers the items it applies to, for its number of orders, and each renewal counts toward its usage limit. Discounts
Pause and resume
Pause subscription stops it: nothing is sent or charged until it's resumed, by you or by the customer. The page shows the date it would next bill if resumed.
Cancel
Cancel subscription asks when it should end:
- At the end of the current cycle. Nothing more is charged, and it stays active until its next billing date. Until then it can be kept with Keep subscription. Any one-time items come off now, and go back on if it's kept.
- Now. It's cancelled in Shopify straight away. This can't be undone.
You can record a reason, using the same reasons as your cancellation rule, and a note that's kept with the cancellation. Customers' own attempts to cancel, and what they chose, are listed on the subscription's page.
Payment method
The page shows the payment method on file and warns when a card expires soon or is no longer active. Email payment update link sends the customer Shopify's own email with a secure link to update it. You can send it any time, not only after a failed payment.
About "Notify the customer": some actions have this switch. Customer emails for staff changes aren't set up yet, so nothing is sent when it's on.
Customers
Go to Customers to find a customer and see their details, their subscriptions, and everything that has happened to them.
Activity
Every charge, change, swap, cancellation, save and recovery attempt is logged. You'll see it as a timeline on each subscription and customer, and across your whole store under Activity.
